magazine analysis 3

COVER PAGE ANALYSIS  The magazine I am doing this time is called " CRUISING WORLD ". The cover consists of 4 elements in terms of the picture the sailing ship with people on board, the water and the sky with the clouds. What we can see is a very simple portrayal of the idea of cruising the world, and not lavish portrayal of a huge cruise ship with families enjoying the cruise. This topic might be a controversy among people! Do cruising ships take away the thrill of travel and provide too much luxury or comfort which makes the adventure the same as living in your nearby hotel ?Many people have thought about this and still finally came to the conclusion that safety will not be assured if the ship is not large enough and with no radars and sonars. Then the next best thing is to have less comfort, but this cannot be achieved as if the people are not doing anything they are bored and if they are the ones who are cooking and doing the chores then some will complain that this wi

COVER PAGE ANALYSIS Today the magazine I am analyzing is "NEW SCIENTIST". The cover page of this magazine consists of a black background with a picture of the earth being struck by an arrow.I feel this is to represent the factors harming the earth, which fits with the theme " WHAT NEXT FOR HUMANITY 'S NEXT FLAWED MASTER PIECE ? ". The cover is also has information on the articles available in the magazine. In terms of color scheme as I mentioned earlier  that the background color is black, and the color of the outline of the Earth and  the continents on the Earth is gold in color. As for the text the font color is gold for headings and white for sub-headings. On the top left corner of the cover, the magazine name is typed in white   color bold letters under which, it reads " WEEKLY   26 October 2019  ".   The special issue of the magazine is " THE INTERNET AT 50   WHAT NEXT FOR HUMANITY 'S NEXT FLAWED MASTER PIECE ? ' " What

COVER PAGE LAYOUT AND ANALYSIS WHY I DREW THIS SET UP FOR THE COVER PAGE ? I drew this as I wanted to convey that science can make things possible and exploring the subject with dedication is how you'll come to discover a variety of  things. In terms of art I think it ended up pretty good, the clouds I made sure appeared fluffy and wavy  to represent the organic art style of nature. But, I  made sure to make the cities very rigid, but also have some elements like shrubs and trees. I personally think if I do a digital version of this it will look really beautiful but if I need to make the coloring in the paper version and redraw it that is also quite fine! COLOR SCHEME Sky is cerulean blue with concentration of it accordingly for light and dark areas. The clouds are a mix of  very light cerulean blue and very light grey diluted in water. For reference, it's like water color. Next, the ocean is sea blue leading to cerulean blue almost blending in with the sky.

COVER PAGE : The rough sketch depicts a city along a coastal area with some some vegetation. It also includes the sky with loose and fluffy looking clouds. The subject of the picture is a boy holding balloons  and flying away from the city onto the wide horizon. Sky is cerulean blue with concentration of it accordingly for light and dark areas. The clouds are a mix of  very light cerulean blue and very light grey diluted in water. For reference, it's like water color. Next, the ocean is sea blue leading to cerulean blue almost blending with sky. The ocean also has white parts to it, to represent the foam created when waves form. The city should be squares and rectangles created from a mix of sea blue, cerulean blue and silver, with patches of white, light pink, light yellow as well as light green on top of the building. The the tall tower at center of the picture with a statue on top of it is rusted brown mixed with silver and hall persian blue and white to represent dark a

Magazine course work front page/cover and double spread( blog on work progress )

Since the last time blogged about science magazines and their history, this time I want to convey my experience in making my science magazine. Since the course work only asks you to do the front page contents page and the double spread, I  will only be delving into that for this magazine. How to get started?! As the subheading suggests the first thought in my head was "how do I get started ?". Between the double spread and the contents page I was debating in head on which picture to put where. I had the experiment's image already planned in my head, but I was not sure on where to put it. The next thing I did was that I decided no matter which would be the cover and which would end up being the double spread, I had to first have the sketches of the picture and concept idea of the drawing. So while listening to music I worked on the experiment fist as that was a clear cut thing to do.This was because, the experiment sketch  is just a drawing of the picture to show my

Magazine analysis of content pages/index of science magazines.

In my magazine analysis, I interestingly found that science-related magazines were the only magazines that have had a history separate from all other magazine genre. The notable fact is that all science related magazines in the past have had hardly any visual representation in the contents page compared to all the other genre magazines during the same timeline. And why I think this happened is because back then science, history, geography were all subjects considered study and information based subjects to talk about so even inside the magazine there were only schematic diagrams to represent things as well as portraits of the scientists.Even the travel magazines back then had rich content along with artist's painting of the the place and culinary.etc.But when technology arrived with digital art and photography along with better computers everything became better for magazines,  but the science magazine now with the influence of technology became the most colorful and vibrant magaz

My topic of choice in double spread of magazine course work

This post is me talking about my double page spread for the magazine course work. I intend to write about the water travelling uphill experiment and the easy steps you can take to performing that experiment. While doing my research for double spreads I have found that  a double spread consists of a single background or two separate backgrounds with content distributed in a way which the eyes can easily follow the text.I notice the fonts are also changed up to support this feature. The difference between a double and a single spread sheet is that in a double spread you have more space for arranging your content and vividly express your background. On a side not, I have also noticed that the background need not be only about the topic, but can also be only related to the genre. I chose this experiment as it would easily achieve the feel of conducting a science experiment and wold give kids the confidence to conduct experiments in the future and their fascination for science would gro
