Illustrator tryout 5 ( preliminary )

Image
This was an experiment to try and work with squares and rectangles. It directly connects with my magazine work as I was initially attempting to create buildings to practice for my magazine cover that I am planning to do through digital art. I was able to successfully create depth in my work using light and dark colors and personally feel  that if this was an animation project the art style would look pretty clean!! I wanted to go with different shades of blue to make the color pleasing to the mind and it would also make it subconsciously easier for me to start off with the motif itself.

illustrator tryout 4 (preliminary task)

Image
I feel that this task was the most interesting of them all and it was a little experiment to see what scale of illustrator I can use to draw and see how good my drawings can be here. Although this is a tracing, it proves that if you spend enough time you can make a drawing a lot more detailed.  This was a very peculiar way to use the line segment tool and the eraser tool. I learnt that in illustrator you can use the direct selection button to select the points/lines  and only then can you use the eraser tool to erase the points/lines that are to be erased. After this, I wanted to try and use the brush tool while continually holding the click button and not releasing it ! I also wanted to decrease the opacity to make sure that the detail is not completely lost. The above screen shots are an example of what I said. It created a very smooth and thin layer kind-of effect that did not have liney/stroke-like effect that I thought it would! -Thank you!

My first experience with Adobe Illustrator (preliminary task)

Image
Illustrator is software I am trying to work with to make my coursework content more design friendly, which also enables my readers to not feel like they are only seeing pages of text and photographs. I was able to start working in illustrator, and within an hour or so I was able to progress well. I got the feel for the software, and was experimenting with the features that it provided. I initially  tried out the brush tools and did some sketches. Then I wanted to try and import an image to see if it works like Adobe Photoshop. After which I was having a blast with the rotate and sizing tool. The spiral tool and flare tools intrigued me as they were both very unusual tools. When I use the flare tool, it creates a pattern that uses circles with light and shadow( which honestly reminds me of solar systems and supernovas ). And it allows you to control the radius and light and shadow effects to create an effect as you can see above. And finally I was able to find the ...

Magazine cover analysis

Image
The cover's art consists of cups with intricate designs on them , the first one being a peahen in blue color, the second one being a peacock in gold, the third and the fourth one seems to have a focus on concentric circles. The background is made up of a rectangle(light grey) with triangles(darker shade of grey ) on the top. The background covers most of the page but not all of it, there is space left purposely for the title and borders. The bar code, the issued month and the web address of the magazine are mentioned in the top right corner of the magazine cover. The bar code and the web address are presented to enable the reader to gain access to more information if the the reader wishes to do so. The title  " CERAMIC REVIEW " has a very serene color and font that blends in with the cover art, thus overall representing a mild toned magazine cover. The setup of the picture itself, has been made as if the cups are lines up one after another neatly match the table...

Magazine cover analysis 1

Image
Let's start right away, the pasta is of course the main image which is a flat photograph with barely any editing. The next thing that we notice the peach/pink background behind the main text covering a little less than half of the page. The text itself brings the reader to a normal and comfortable playing field rather than classy words which make people who are easy to fool and making something which is ordinary or less into something profitable. But the latter half the smart people some will directly avoid them or indirectly refuse these magazines or some of them in elder or knowledgeable might enlighten the rest. BENEFITS: -By establishing how many copies sold the magazine can gain a lot of attractions, so that's a good move! -Since the magazine has been approved of / published by BBC books people can trust it's contents and sometimes it will filter most of the people who would otherwise write bad about the magazine. Since there is less criticism people will be m...

COVER PAGE ANALYSIS  The magazine I am doing this time is called " CRUISING WORLD ". The cover consists of 4 elements in terms of the picture the sailing ship with people on board, the water and the sky with the clouds. What we can see is a very simple portrayal of the idea of cruising the world, and not lavish portrayal of a huge cruise ship with families enjoying the cruise. This topic might be a controversy among people! Do cruising ships take away the thrill of travel and provide too much luxury or comfort which makes the adventure the same as living in your nearby hotel ?Many people have thought about this and still finally came to the conclusion that safety will not be assured if the ship is not large enough and with no radars and sonars. Then the next best thing is to have less comfort, but this cannot be achieved as if the people are not doing anything they are bored and if they are the ones who are cooking and doing the chores then some will complain that this wi...

magazine analysis 2

COVER PAGE ANALYSIS Today the magazine I am analyzing is "NEW SCIENTIST". The cover page of this magazine consists of a black background with a picture of the earth being struck by an arrow.I feel this is to represent the factors harming the earth, which fits with the theme " WHAT NEXT FOR HUMANITY 'S NEXT FLAWED MASTER PIECE ? ". The cover is also has information on the articles available in the magazine. In terms of color scheme as I mentioned earlier  that the background color is black, and the color of the outline of the Earth and  the continents on the Earth is gold in color. As for the text the font color is gold for headings and white for sub-headings. On the top left corner of the cover, the magazine name is typed in white   color bold letters under which, it reads " WEEKLY   26 October 2019  ".   The special issue of the magazine is " THE INTERNET AT 50   WHAT NEXT FOR HUMANITY 'S NEXT FLAWED MASTER PIECE ? ' " What ...

Magazine analysis of content pages/index of science magazines.

Image
In my magazine analysis, I interestingly found that science-related magazines were the only magazines that have had a history separate from all other magazine genre. The notable fact is that all science related magazines in the past have had hardly any visual representation in the contents page compared to all the other genre magazines during the same timeline. And why I think this happened is because back then science, history, geography were all subjects considered study and information based subjects to talk about so even inside the magazine there were only schematic diagrams to represent things as well as portraits of the scientists.Even the travel magazines back then had rich content along with artist's painting of the the place and culinary.etc.But when technology arrived with digital art and photography along with better computers everything became better for magazines,  but the science magazine now with the influence of technology became the most colorful and vibrant magaz...

Magazine Covers

Image
American magazine covers tend to have  caricatures of the important characters/figures of the presented content in the magazine. The poster character/figure tend to depict what the magazine's contents or have catchy slogans or phrases that attract the readers( for ex:like the one above)  If we look at magazines in Vienna, we can see the merging of different art styles. As Vienna is called the "City of art", the magazines also are designed with a more aesthetic sense.Free flow, yet detailed ink  and water colored drawings. It depicts freedom in the field of art.  Then, if look at travel magazines like "Lonely Planet ", we can see the depiction of High Definition ( HD) quality photography of specific places/persons with that travellers point of view of the trip.  When we look at the Shonen Jump  cover we observe that the protagonists of every series is depicted in different artstlyes every time each taking t=an aspect of one another's series or ...
